How to Create Gmail Lists for Your WordPress Blog
Do You Need an Email List? If you are a newbie blogger you may not be ready to spend the money on a professional newsletter service, but you want to keep your contact list updated as to your recent developments and keep them coming back to your website. Until the affiliate or product revenues are rolling in you can manually send out newsletters yourself. If you have a Gmail account, here is an easy way create a list… Start by logging into your Gmail account. Make sure you are in standard view. Look down at the very bottom of the page where you see “Gmail view” and make sure you are on standard NOT html. Steps to create a Gmail list: Look at the top of the page on the left where it says Contacts. Click on Contacts. When the new page opens click on New Group on the left of the page. A window will pop up that requests you to name the group, so do it. Make the first letter of the name uppercase. The rest can be uppercase or lowercase. Now the name of your group will appear in the left sidebar. Click on it. When the new page opens, look for a link at the top of the box that says Add to (the name of your group). Click on it. A drop down box appears. Type in the first letter or two of names of people you have added to your contact list. For example, if I type in “An”, a contact with the name “Anthony” shows up in the drop down box. I click on his name and he is added to my list automatically. Keep adding names to the list until you have everyone you want in it. You can add or remove names at any time in the future. Look at the More Actions button – click on this and you will see a few advanced options you can use if you want. Now go to your Inbox and click on Compose Mail. In the To field, type in the name of the group. Make sure you type the first letter of the group name in upper case. The name of the group will appear in a small window below the field. Click on it. Now you will see all the email addresses from your group show up in the To field. Note: if you want to hide the email addresses on your list, then put your own email address in the To field and put the group name in the Add BCC field.
